Today we’re interviewing Lynne from the Lily Parlour!
Hey Lynne! What’s your favorite thing about Halloween?
Making Costumes, definitely. We don’t believe in costumes from a plastic bag, we’ll have none of that!
Halloween for our family has become more of a lifestyle than a holiday. We have spooky decorations in our house year round. This is our favorite time for shopping and usually the time of year family members think about holiday gift shopping. We are really looking forward to Keen Halloween to see what everyone else has in store.
I’ve seen you dressed up at a lot of events. Describe your style:
Well, I guess cosplay loving nerd girl, sometimes goth, vintage lover, rockabilly wannabe, Disney dork, just about covers it.
You’ve been busy; what kinds of things have you been making for Keen Halloween?
Mostly spooky Aprons.
What do you like best about being a Maker?
I really enjoy the actual creative process.
How did you get started?
Well, I have always been the costume maker of the family, and the way I approached that was to find a garment and alter it into something else. Adding whatever elements were needed to make a great finished piece. I decided to take from that to make my aprons. Most of my aprons start out as a skirt or maybe a dress and then I modify it, add some spookiness and viola, it becomes an apron.
What’s the coolest trick-er-treat costume that you had as a kid?
My parents didn’t really like Halloween, so I don’t really have a favorite, I was usually making something up at the last minute. I do have a favorite of one of my Daughter’s, when my youngest was 4 we made her up as Cruella De Ville. It was great fun! As an adult I would say my favorite has been my Lily Munster costume.
What are your Halloween plans, this year?
I don’t have solid plans for the actual day just yet. My husband and I are going to try to visit Disneyland for their Halloween celebration in October for our Anniversary. They do Halloween right there with all the pumpkins and Jack Skellington in the Haunted Mansion.
What’s your favorite Halloween treat?
Chocolate, duh.
